When the Boonville Fair Association was ready to mow the grass in preparation for the forthcoming Relay for Life event, it had a problem. Their 1967 Ford tractor just wasn’t up to it any more. They looked in to other tractors, new, used and rental. The decision to take advantage of the offer extended to Municipalities and Tax Exempt organizations by Case IH through White’s Farm Supply, Lowville was decided upon for the time allowed. However, the tractor was not available for a couple more weeks, and with the rainy season, the grass just wouldn’t wait. It needed to be done NOW as we who lawns know. The Fair Board discussed the situation and Dan Stysh, a member of the Board, and President of Lost Trail Snowmobile Club offered the use of the Kubota Tractor/Groomer to get the Fairgrounds in shape for June 3.
We also helped out at the Tractor Pull, using the Kubuta to help keep things moving on the track at the Fair.
It was just a case of neighbor helping neighbor, community service, and assisting someone in need, all rolled into one. This Kubota was on familiar ground since it helped ‘shave’ the ice oval in the winter at the Snow Festival when it had the tracks on and dragged the groomer. Now the wheels are on for summer use in trail maintenance and it drags a Bush Hog. The Kubota has already been in use to do some snowmobile trail rerouting. A piece of private land is now going to have a house built just where the trail goes – so the Landowner offered to do the heavy re-routing by using the Kubota. This was done and now the volunteers can do the easier work later in the season (when it dries up some).
