Groomer Maintenance
03/23/11
Lost Trail is
pulling the Pisten Bully #1 off the trails.
With whatever snow is left we feel the other 2
groomers can handle anything that may happen. Anyone
with mechanical ability is more than welcome to come
and lend a hand.
We have the PB #1 up on blocks, we are pulling wheel hubs, inspecting torsion bars and seals, checking bearings and oil (replacing if needed), repacking them with new grease. Torque splitter and planateries will get new gear oil ($125. per tractor). We will replace UTF fluid for drives and hydraulic system - 500 hours recommended or yearly .. $300. per tractor. We will reverse drive sprockets to spread wear, inspect all track components, fix and replace as needed. We will detail the cab and anything else that comes to mind. This will take a minimum of two or three full days per tractor unless more serious conditions are found upon inspections.
Anyone with mechanical ability is more than welcome to come and lend a hand. We want to get these groomers in start-ready condition asap so they don't sit all summer and rust away...and we want this work done before we have to get out on the trails to make them ready. Manpower is also needed when that starts.
