Trail Work Update

The crews have been busy this fall with trail work.

Last day of hunting season is Sunday, Dec. 6.  Trails will open Pearl Harbor Day - Dec. 7.  We are getting them in shape.  A lot of brushing has been done.  The 55 foot bridge that got washed away in the late spring is back in place and almost finished.  The steep hill on the C'vl trail has been circumvented...the guys finally found a way around it.   Before building the bridge, they had to build a road to get in to it....the fields are still knee deep in mud in places and they couldn't get the heavy timbers for the decking in to the location....  had to lay a special fabric down and 3 loads of stone for about 100 feet or so....   sledders don't know the half of it when they glide over the snow on good trails what goes in to making them.  This rebuilding has cost us approximately $2000.     Decking alone for hemlock (which is expensive) was $1032.     The rest was for equipment rental, etc.  All labor was volunteer.  We have to thank a downstate club - Long Island Sno-Seekers for their donation to help with this project.
