Trail Maintenance Update

A couple of photos
showing Director John Pfeiffer re-routing a small
portion of the Port Leyden trail. There
were some 'gas line' issues, some landowner/ATV
issues, and in another area two small bridges were
installed over wet spots and took care of a bad blind
spot. On the West Leyden trail, a small reroute
was done, a new truck frame was installed over a wet
hole, which required two new landowners
approval. On the Constableville trail we reset
two culverts and made them more permanently
installed. On the White Lake trail we did some
minor repairs to eliminate two blind spots on
the Smith Road. The Town Loop had some minor
brushing and repair but is ok.
We wish to
give special thanks to the following for their
in-kind services: Eli Schindler, Mike Cronizer for
trailer use, Tom Yager for his trailer use, the Mayor
of Lyons Falls, Mike Horilla for his backhoe and
dozer use.
On a few cold days in
early December, the club was using the Kubota
tractor/groomer once more before the snow flies and
the tracks need to
be put on instead of the wheels. The Kubota
does double-duty, working
both winter and summer. Shown here it is
bringing a load of hemlock to
the site of a trail project that needed a small
bridge to span a gully
on Trail C4E. This particular gully had a
crossing that simply wore out
and needed replacement. In the second photo,
with the work completed,
the Polaris 6-wheeler is shown testing the crossing
and proves that all
has been rebuilt to accommodate sled traffic when the
snows come. John
Pfeiffer is shown with the Kubota, and Dale Flansburg
is driving the
Polaris.
