Although an official notice has not been received by the Club from the State, the news is all over the web. The Lost Trail Club is gratified to hear the news so they can add a second groomer to their trail maintenance equipment, making it easier to groom their 48 miles of trail. Having two groomers will make the job easier since Lost Trail has just added a new 14 mile trail to the Constableville area, and is working very hard to open a Port Leyden trail. The C’vle trail pretty much follows the old C7B trail that was closed 3 years ago due to landowner dispute. Trail closures can happen, that is why it is so important for sledders to “Stay On The Trail” and follow the rules and regulations set forth both by the clubs and the state.
In early October, Lost Trail submitted their request for $98,386.00 toward the purchase of a $122,982 M125X Kubota tractor to be outfitted with Quad Tracks, front blade and rear groomer. The club must pay the remaining 20%. It is not known when the grants will be received, so the club is not sure if this equipment will be available for grooming this season.
With the lack of snow over the holiday season there isn’t much sledding going on, but for Lost Trail it’s a time to be able to finish working on the new trails. Installing culverts and building bridges is easier when there isn’t too much snow on the ground and the guys are taking advantage of it. The C’vle trail is now ready for use, as soon as the snows come.
Other clubs receiving Grant Awards are located m Broome County; Cattaraugus County, Chautauqua County, Franklin County, Fulton County, Herkimer County (the Trackside Blazers of Forestport), Jefferson County (Barnes Corners Sno-Pals), Lewis County (the new Plateau Riders Club), Otsego County, and St. Lawrence County.
